THE SHOW: 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall / Winter 2013
KEYWORDS: Biker babes. Polished edge. Asymmetry.
THE LOOK: Phillip Lim took the inspiration of motorcyclists’ girlfriends and ran with it. The result was an abundance of different ideas that definitely made for a diverse and interesting collection. One of the main highlights was the repeating quilted, oversized shorts. There were several eye-catching structured leather motorcycle vests that will be flying off the racks. The Lim contribution to the fur that was seen all over fashion week was a calico print in army green, black, and white. Aside from the calico and a few different plaids, prints were kept to a relative minimum; contrast was instead built by the variety in color.
THE BEAUTY: Hues of cinnamon, chocolate, and cocoa on both lips and liners. Long locks were parted either center or just to the side, and slightly tousled for an overall low maintenance look.
THE STANDOUT LOOK: Lim always nails the trousers, and look 13 of the collection was no different (third from the left in our photo). These pants are the perfect balance of slouchy and skinny, and the vest is so commercial it is almost ridiculous. Lim goes to show that it doesn’t have to be a gorgeous gown to nail a successful runway look.
