Le Moine Tricote: Knitwear Bares Its Soul at Paris Fashion Week

Alice Lemoine’s presentation of “Le Moine Tricote’s” spring 2013 collection in Paris, for Paris Fashion Week, revealed a sophisticated story of modern-day hand knitted couture.

The presentation was staged in a bright airy salon of a Parisian Haussmanian. This intimate and informal setting, as if you had stepped into a designer’s Parisian apartment, evoked a gallery atmosphere and allowed the audience time to fully absorb this unique hand-knitted collection.

In a very natural, spontaneous way, models wearing select pieces stood casually by the window, making it easy to see how this collection translates into the every day. The dresses on exposé paired with Japanese-inspired headpieces, displayed beautiful feminine cuts – sculpting the body and creating a striking, out of the ordinary look.

A stunning collection built on the basis of French elegance and heritage and on an artisanal technique using 12mm needles, a process that comes naturally to Alice and one that she compares to “automatic writing.” The idea is that the creative process unveils itself once the garment is put on.

In Alice’s own words:

“It is my hope that each hand-knit can express the soul of its unique creation.”
