THE SHOW // Ann Yee Spring Summer 2013 RTW Collection
THE LOOK // No flannel and polar fleece here. After a recent fire that destroyed her fashion archive, Ann Yee escaped to the Pacific Northwest (where I had the privilege of meeting her) to seek refuge and find peace with the incident. While there, she was inspired by a pile of sun-faded sea ropes and nets pointed out to her by a friend. Her collection, set atop the Standard East’s Penthouse suite – with a 360 view of New York City – was a combination of easy to wear signature knit and drapey silk separates in bold colors, balanced with ivory and taupe.
STANDOUT PEICE // It’s a toss up between a neutral knit tank with black piping, paired with palazzo pants (pictured below) and Intarsia sweater tank dress.
THE BEAUTY // Bold and Bright. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics makeup artists framed the eye with orange and pink shadow and applied a bold pink lip. Hair by TIGI was knotted to mimic sea ropes.
DESIGNER PEDIGREE // Before Ann Yee struck out on her own, she designed for Barneys New York, Alice + Olivia, LaROK, Elizabeth and James and knitwear line DUFFY.
