“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”
Quoted and emulated by many, but replicated by no one, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel is a legend. And appropriately, so is her signature scent, Chanel No. 5.
From Chanel’s Facebook: “N°5 entered history covertly in 1921. Initially, Gabrielle Chanel refused to sell the “perfume of her own invention,” and sprayed it only in secrecy.
In 1937, Mademoiselle allowed her image to be featured in its advertising, embodying the myth of N°5.”
NOW: Audrey Tautou (pictured) represents Chanel No. 5, but Brad Pitt will soon grace ads as the first male representative of the perfume (to be released later this year). I wonder what miss Coco would think of that?
