One of my favorite startup apparel companies, Everlane, is hitting the mean streets of Soho for four days to show off their new launches and give customers a chance to try on their famously affordable tees, belts, and bags, in person. If you aren’t familiar with Everlane, here a few simple things you need to know about the brand:
1. It’s a members only club, so you are instantly cooler than your neighbor when you join and know about it ;)
2. They offer quality apparel and goods at a fair price that is not possible in a regular brick and mortar store because of the overhead fees. You pay for your t-shirt, not the rent and price for fixtures and staffing.
Founder, Michael Preysman put it nicely.
“We appreciate a great store experience,
but brick and mortar comes at a cost to consumers.
So we’re giving a choice: Buy in a store for the
traditional price, or buy the same product
from everlane.com without the retail markup.”
Tonight is the opening night of the shop and they are celebrating the first of what might be the many installments of pop-up shops around the nation. I will be there taking photos and mingling with NYC’s finest, so please head on over to 65 Prince St and say hello. Make sure to RSVP. In order to do so, you must sign up. Go to www.everlane.com for more details and see you there. And if you aren’t in NYC, be on the lookout for a popup shop in a city near you.
PS. You are probably wondering why we’ve been so radio silent and what’s with me being in NYC so often. As most of my readers know, I have been located in Seattle, WA building the company. I recently moved to NYC where JNSQ, INC is now headquartered. More updates on that next week! Stay tuned….
