Your calendar is chock full of holiday parties and you need a go-to beauty routine that is simple and wearable. Follow our easy hair and makeup guide to master a polished and pretty beauty routine. Luminous skin, red pout and a modern chignon and you are party ready. Handsome date optional!
1. On clean, moisturized skin, apply a dime-sized amount of fluid foundation. Beginning in the center of the face, spread downward and apply more when more coverage is needed. *Try ByTerry Sheer Expert.
2. Buff a sheer, translucent powder over foundation to make your makeup last for hours. *Koh Gen Do Natural Lighting Powder imparts a holiday glow that’s as perfectly pretty in real life as it is flawless on camera.
3. Sweep a soft veil of highlighting shadow across the lid, then follow with 2-3 coats of glossy black mascara – bigger lashes are always better! * A beautiful shade for all skin tones, Cle De Peau Satin Eye Color in 101 subtly brightens the eyes with a sheer texture. * For attention-grabbing lashes, try a lush mascara that won’t break the bank – L’Oreal Voluminous is a drugstore cult favorite.
4. For a classic red pout, careful application is required. After applying lip balm to hydrate, line and fill in lips with a rich red lipliner. Our model is wearing Russian Red by NARS. *Forget feathering, Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm moisturizes chapped lips and helps keep color in place.
5. In the center of the lip, apply shimmering gloss for extra holiday sparkle. We love the model’s color – Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Glee.
6. Balance the face with complimentary rosy-red blush applied along the cheekbones. Blend well. *Best bet – NARS Blush in Amour. PRO TIP: Dust translucent powder over cheeks for a rosy glow that appears to come from within!
1. Prep the hair. Working with hair that is to soft or clean doesn’t work! Texturizing the hair with Kevin Murphy Texture Master is a great tool for fast and easy prep. Spray the hair from root to ends, holding the spray twelve inches from the hair and spraying the hair lightly, layering the product .
2. Blow dry the hair in the direction of where the pony tail will be placed. A little preparation will make your hair look more professional and easier to get up in the ponytail.
3. Place the ponytail. It’s easiest if you bend your head upside down and brush your hair into your hands. Place two bobby pins in a rubber band. Place one bobby pin in your hair next to the base of you ponytail and wrap the elastic around the hair . Pin the other bobby pin in the hair.
4. Curl the hair with a large curling iron so you have pretty ends to the hair when you wrap it around the ponytail.
5. Using a paddle brush, back brush the hair to give texture. Add hairspray.
6. Smooth the hair lightly with the brush. Do not brush out the texturizing that you put in.
7. Wrap the hair around the ponytail using long hairpins to secure around the base of the pony tail. Use shorter hairpins to pin into the interior of the chignon.
8. Lightly spray around the face and softly brush the hair forward to create a soft fringe around the face. One final spritz and pin any where the chignon feels loose.
