It’s THAT time again. The season has changed and the sun is shining (kinda). It’s the time of year we investigate what we have been hoarding. Today’s closet case: your Imelda Marcos-inspired shoe chaos! This requires enlisting the advice of a professional.
Meet Arianna Vargas:
“specialist in residential clutter control and organizational design”
Whether you need beautiful organization inspiration or an intervention - Arianna can help. She so kindly prepared tips, tricks, and storage ideas to prevent your living quarters looking less Grey Gardens and more SATC.
Organize your shoes on an over-the-door or wall mounted (hidden!) shoe rack…
in shoe cubbies or in photo labeled shoe boxes…
in a shoe ottoman or on shelves…
in shoe pockets or in flip clear front shoe boxes….
Arianna’s tips for organizing your shoes:
1. Keep only the shoes that you love and actually wear.
2. Donate shoes you no longer want – your trash is someone else’s treasure.
3. Don’t hold on to a pair just because they’re a designer brand and/or you paid a lot of money for them. If you wish to recoup some of the money you spent on them, they’re in good condition, and you’re willing to follow through on the sale, sell them on ebay or craigslist. Otherwise, donate them, they’re taking up valuable space in your closet.
4. Keep your most frequently used shoes in the most accessible place, within easy reach, and keep less frequently used or out-of-season shoes somewhere out of the way, such as a top shelf.
5. Protect special shoes by keeping them in a box
